True to oneself

Being true to oneself, ‘being a man, if you will’ it’s very hard for a man to express his feelings in my opinion. Maybe easier to his significant other or maybe a family member. But to friends or acquaintances it’s much more difficult. I’m envious of woman because it seems so much easier for them to express themselves or ‘be real’ as Dr. Phil would say or as the inner city and younger hipsters would refer too as ‘keepin it real.’ I find it very difficult to confront friends when I feel they are wrong, have wronged me, perhaps lied, or stretched the truth, or just be straight with them. I’ll vent to others bout how I truly feel when they’re not around but find it difficult to let them know how I really feel when I talk to them face to face or even on the phone or email. Thus endangerment of the horrible label known as “a two faced prick.” In my lifelong journey to become what I would consider to be a ‘real man’ I discovered that expressing ones true feelings is of the utmost importance especially if you want to earn not only self respect, but the respect of others in the long run.

I’ve been wronged many times but found when given the opportunity to confront the person, I’d do what my other male counterparts would refer too as ‘being a pussy.’ However that whole statement of ‘being a pussy’ makes one wonder. When you really think about it, women seldom have problems confronting each other, expressing their feelings and two women in a physical confrontation are far more brutal then many male to male confrontations I’ve seen in my time. So maybe, when we don’t confront each other we’re actually ‘acting like a penis.’ I have to give props to women because I believe you’re much better communicators then men. In the words of my great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather I say ‘unga, bunga, tunga.’ In my eternal search for inner peace and wisdom I’ve learned it is of the utmost importance to tell people how you feel without fear of rejection or even hostile action. Stand up for what you believe in no matter what someone else thinks. If you can achieve this then in my opinion you’ve become a real man. Disclaimer (for the sake of political correctness, you may replace the terms ‘man’ with ‘woman’, ‘pussy’ with ‘penis’ and vice versa. You may also replace all terms with person, You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.)
